
One of my favorite things throughout 2024 has been to watch Nisha develop into a businesswoman!
It began in December 2023 when we started to sell Lamprini products at the local food and lifestyle markers. Nisha has a knack for interacting with people. She is outgoing and isn’t afraid to talk to strangers, which is key when selling at a farmer’s market! In the first market we did, she tried to use English, but because it isn't her heart language, she wasn’t as confident, and her attempts didn’t connect with the crowd. At the second event, I affirmed her strength in engaging people. I suggested she do so in whatever language she was comfortable using- Bengali, Hindi - her choice - assuring her there was no pressure to speak English. Using Hindi, she was much more confident because she was herself! She has only grown since then!
Since then, she has been promoting our products to anyone who will listen! One of her tag lines is, “If you taste, then you will understand.” She grasps the importance of getting samples into the hands of people and the power of tasting a product. She is proud of the items we are making and wants people to taste and see. She also connects sales to her livelihood. She knows the better Lamprini does, the better sales are, the more secure her job is, and the more women will have jobs with us.
This is exciting for Lamprini - as a business and for employees, who are learning new skills and perspectives while using the gifts, abilities, and personalities that make them uniquely them!
Here is what Nisha has said about her new responsibilities -
“I am getting better at doing the accounts”. She is taking on new responsibilities and growing in skills that are practical in the business and in life.
“Boond boond se ghada bharata hai” - “Slowly slowly the water fills the pitcher.” She is growing in understanding about how the daily and consistent sales make an impact,
Johkhon guest ashle annodo dai - “When guests come I give them joy”. The way to the heart is through the stomach!
