Our
Origin
Kelly, originally from the US, has been living in Kolkata since 2016. She is regularly asked these three questions.
Why Kolkata?
For six years, she worked as the managing partner at 8th Day Cafe and Bakery, a popular cafe chain in the city. After years of working elbow to elbow with some amazing women, she felt compelled to launch a business specifically dedicated to equipping, employing, and mentoring women who have been marginalized by their communities, and who are just starting in their careers.
Why “Lamprini”?
Lamprini is a Greek word meaning “someone or something that shines light”. She desires to shine light in all she does and desires for others to shine as well. It is the hope that each person who comes in contact with Lamprini staff or products will shine!
Why granola?
When Lamprini Bakery was launched as a cloud kitchen, our wholesome granola quickly became a best seller, and demand led us to expand flavors and sizes. We went where the customers took us.
Our Social
Impact
At Lamprini, we are more than just bakers. We are equippers.
Through our holistic six-month "Cafe Training Program,” we train and equip women not only baking skills but also transferable life skills that will help them thrive wherever their life journey takes them.
Participants in our "Cafe Training Program”, not only learn hard and soft skills, but they also receive opportunities for full-time employment and ongoing support and mentorship.
Since inception in 2022, 22 women have participated in our job skills training program.

We are always looking for cafes in Kolkata to be employment partners as we seek job placements for our graduates.
Volunteer Time and Expertise
Are you willing to share your story of business and how you got where you are? Do you have skills in public health or first aid? Or have other creative ideas to share with others? As the training program grows we seek to add outside guest speakers into the curriculum.
